ANXIETY ANALYSIS IN ENGLISH PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS OF ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT STUDENTS IN STATE ISLAMIC INSTITUTE OF SORONG

In this study, researcher was combined two types of methods to get clearer results. Mixed methods design involves collecting, analyzing, and "mixing" quantitative and qualitative data to better understand the research problem. This study used an explanatory design, where the explanatory design begins with the collection of quantitative data and the analysis continues with the collection and analysis of qualitative data. The research questions in this research were what extent does there exist an anxiety in English Public Speaking Skills among English Education Department Students at State Islamic Institute of Sorong and what are the factors can affect their anxiety in English Public Speaking Skills. This research involved participants from the second-semester student until eighth-semester of English Education Department, State Islamic Institute of Sorong. Technique sampling in this research used a convenience technique example. A convenience sample contains a group of individuals available to studied. It is known that the majority of English Education Department between second-eighth at State Islamic Institute have a moderate level of public speaking anxiety, which is around 64.7% or almost half of the number of respondents have a moderate level of anxiety, then 26.4% of students are at low anxiety level and only 8.8% are at the high anxiety level of students from the total number of respondents.
